- exceeds a width of 2,6 metres
- exceeds 12.0 metres in length for a solo vehicle
- exceeds 16.50 metres in the case of a combination of tractor and semi-trailer, and
- exceeds 18.75 metres in length for a combination of tractor and trailer
In relation to total weight
- exceeds 20 tonnes for a two-axle vehicle
- exceed 26 tonnes for a three-axle vehicle
- exceeds 28 tonnes for a three-axle vehicle combination
- exceeds 38 tonnes for a four-axle vehicle combination
- exceeds 40 tonnes for a combination of five or more axles
In relation to axle loads
- any axle exceeding 11,5 tonnes
- exceeds 19,0 tonnes (axle spacing: 1,30 - 1,79 m) for a group of two axles
- exceeds 24,0 tonnes for a group of three axles (axle spacing: 1,30 - 1,79 m)
The route permit
According to scope, there are:
- national route permits issued by Hungarian Public Roads
- Budapest route permits issued by Budapest Public Roads
- and municipal route permits.
According to validity, there are: case route permits or period route permits.
Period permits can be daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, half-year, or annual.
Some of the period licences do not require the provision of an escort car and some require an escort in all cases.

Escort of overweight and oversized cargo
For overweight and oversized consignments, 190 / 2008. (VII) 29.) Government Decree on the restriction of the transport of heavy goods vehicles does NOT apply. It follows that these vehicles can also operate with a route permit during a truck stop.
On the other hand, in the case of certain dimensions, there are so-called time limits for transport.
In general, if the shipment is large, it can run at night from 19:00 to 06:00, but for example, in Budapest, the time available is even narrower.
This must be taken into account when organising the transport!
